As an outcome to the Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) committee study, the Armor School is moving from Fort Knox to Fort Benning, Georgia. Since the vehicles in the Patton Museum collection are part of the curriculm of the Armor School, the bulk of the museum's vehicles will be moving to the new U.S. Army Armor Museum when it is completed in the 2011-2012 timeframe.

Because of this move, restoration work has been limited while those vehicles that are currently functional or in need of repair are being maintained. The volunteers are currently reassembling vehicles that are in different stages of restoration in preparation for the move to Fort Benning. Some vehicle projects will only be cosmetic restorations.
