On September 10, 2009, volunteer Don Moriarty opened the belly escape hatch on Cobra King and began cleaning out debris in the bow gunner's position. Among the debris he found a large amount of ruptured .30 caliber cases and projectiles in the floor under the bow gunner's seat.
