The Emert L. "Red" Davis Memorial Library in the Patton Museum is a treasure trove to historians and researchers. It's books, photos and other collections are available to those who are seeking information about armor development, innovations, history and armored warfare in general. The following link is to the U.S. Army Armor School Research Library site which contains a searchable data base of the publications, photos, articles, etc. available for public use in the Barr Memorial Library on post and the Davis Memorial Library in the Patton Museum. Researchers can see beforehand what articles are available in either libraries before visiting to do on-site research. The location of the book, photo or article is shown in the listings. It is advisable that all researchers contact the respective libraries before visiting. Because many of the books are rare one-of-a-kind editions, interlibrary loans are extremely rare, most research being done within the confines of the libraries. It does, however, give the serious researcher advance knowledge of what is available before a visit. |
