As an outcome to the Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) decision, the Armor School has moved from Fort Knox to Fort Benning, Georgia. Most of the vehicles in the Patton Museum collection are now part of the new National Armor and Cavalry Museum. Many have been moved into storage at Fort Benning until a new structure is built. The General George Patton Museum volunteers will continue to be a viable force in support of the museum and its mission. As the interior exhibits of the museum grow, there will be new vehicle and weapon restoration projects that will enhance and expand the dynamics of the new museum. As these projects begin, their progress will be recorded in this section. |
