For
over 60 years the Patton Museum has relied on volunteers to work
on museum projects, exhibits and special events. Now that the Patton
Museum of Cavalry and Armor has been replaced by the new General
George Patton Museum, the volunteers will help create new exhibits,
restore artifacts for display and continue the traditions of excellence.
Even though the mission of the museum has changed, the need of the
volunteers to promote that mission has not. |
Now
more than ever, volunteers will be needed to help create this new museum
from the ground up. Although the bulk of the armored vehicle collection
is now gone, there are still vehicles left that will need to be restored
for display in the museum. There is also the need to participate in
special events associated with the museum. During the year, the volunteers
will have special displays of uniforms, equipment and weapons used by
America's soldiers over the years.
The volunteers are organized and under the direction of the director
of the Patton Museum and charged with aiding in the restoration, preservation
and maintenance of the collection. The Patton Museum volunteers will
make every effort to see that the museum remains a unique and special
facility for all to enjoy.
